Dual use! These lids function as both a straw hole tumbler lid, and also as a fermentation lid! The 10.5mm hole will accept any straw up to 10mm, and is also the perfect size for plastic 3 piece fermentation airlocks!

Attach with the included stainless steel band! Unlike normal Mason jar rings, this one will not rust with normal use and is dishwasher safe.

Made of food grade silicone rubber, these lid inserts are dishwasher, freezer, and microwave safe. Silicone is a safe, green, non-plastic (BPA free) material for food use that does not leach any chemicals.

We set out to develop an all silicone fermentation lid, but quickly realized it would work just as well as a straw hole lid!

Before these lids, we were using Ball plastic lids with a hole, a silicone grommet to hold the airlock, and a silicone sealing ring to make them airtight. Eventually the plastic would crack or break, and it was fussy to assemble all the pieces. This single piece of silicone replaces the lid, grommet, and sealing ring! They are easier to use, easier to clean, way better looking, and double as a tumbler lid when you aren’t fermenting anything!

For a complete lacto fermentation setup, pair this lid with an airlock and a glass weight. More fermentation instructions are coming soon, but for now they are widely available on blogs and other websites.

When I originally bought my jars, they came with a metal lid with a hole for a straw. I used them for my two boys who at the time were 9 and 11 and always spilling things. Anyway, the lids eventually rusted and got bent out of shape, so I threw them away and kept the jars. I was so happy to see these with the rubbery rings that won't rust. Boys, now teenagers, love them. I will be buying more.
