Why did you start working at Mason Jar Lifestyle (MJL)?
I started working for MJL in 2019, but I’ve been friends with Maggie and Ryan since 2004! I love getting to work and create with friends who really are like family!
I also deeply embrace a more environmentally friendly lifestyle (you should check out our 25 panel solar array!) and contributing to a business that does the same – well it inspires and motivates me every day!
What do I love about working at Mason Jar Lifestyle (MJL)?
I love the people first and the products second! I also really enjoy seeing what people order together and how they use the accessories differently. I think the warehouse is a really zen place too — people, coffee, music, and sweet products. It’s a happy place to be!

I love anything that enables me to get coffee to my mouth — so our sexy, faux leather coffee sleeve and silicone drink lid are the bomb!

In all seriousness though, I think the faux leather sleeve is really good looking, insulates my jar, and the handle and lid keep me from dumping coffee all over myself! I love it for hot tea too!

Meet Nikki
Why did you start working at Mason Jar Lifestyle (MJL)?
I’ve known Maggie for literally my whole life–she’s my sis! I have also known Ryan since way back when he and Maggie first started dating in high school. I won’t say exactly how many years that was, since I might get in trouble (hehe), but let’s just I’ve known him since I was a kid, and that he feels more like a big brother than an in-law.
A couple years ago, I was working a job that involved a lot of strenuous activity, which was starting to take a toll on my joints. Around the time that I realized I needed to make a change for the sake of my poor knees and aching back, Maggie and Ryan were looking for help with things at MJL that could be handled remotely via computer. (I lived in Minnesota at the time.) Maggie asked me if I’d be interested in joining the team. Heck yes I was!!!
What do I love about working at Mason Jar Lifestyle (MJL)?
The people! The staff here is THE BEST. I love my work family, some of whom are literally family. 😉 I also really enjoy getting to chat with customers who reach out to us with questions and comments; I get to interact with so many great people because of this job!

Stainless Steel Storage Lids w/ Silicone Seals
What do you love about it?
Decanting my pantry items into Mason jars with airtight storage lids has totally transformed my kitchen. It’s so pretty and organized that I enjoy cooking way more than I did before, since now I don’t have to dig around looking for things anymore. There’s also less food waste/spoilage because being able to see everything gives you a much better sense of what you have on hand; food items don’t get shoved to the back of the cabinet and forgotten anymore.
How do you use it?
So many things! Where to start… Storing coffee, spices, flour, sugar, grains, beans, rice, nuts, granola, candy, dried fruits, dog treats…basically any dry goods. If I have a container of broth or other perishable liquid in the fridge that I don’t think will get used up before the expiration date, I portion it into smaller jars, stick a lid on, and put them in the freezer for later.
Instead of plastic storage bags, I’ve used lidded jars as containers for the small toiletries that tend to make a mess in your suitcase during air travel. The air-tight jar even helps keep the air pressure steady so they don’t blow open! Plus, the jar itself often comes in handy during a trip, since you can use it to hold your toothbrush, makeup brushes, etc., or as an environmentally friendly alternative to the single-use, plastic-wrapped cups in your hotel room.
Fun Fact
- I love camping and hiking and just nature in general. Hunting for edible mushrooms is a really enjoyable way to spend a day outdoors! Make sure you know how to identify them correctly, though–don’t just start eating random mushrooms you find, ya hear me? I will not be held responsible for the outcome. 🙂
- I’m a bit of a sci-fi nerd. My DVD collection includes the full series of Star Trek: TNG, X-Files, and Quantum Leap, among others.
- I’ve been an avid aquarium enthusiast for more than 20 years. I got my first tiny 1 gallon fish tank when I was about 8 years old. Except for the year that I lived in a college dorm room, I’ve basically had an aquarium constantly every since. I currently have two small saltwater tanks, and one larger freshwater tank.

I love the new Ball blue jars and think they make great pendant lights.
What do you love about it?
The blue color looks better and the shape has more style. The color will also let more light through than the older blue jars.
