Product Description
- Fit: Fits wide mouth Mason jars with a 3-inch internal opening. Does not fit regular mouth jars.
- Simple to use: Prepare your vegetables and salt or brine according to a tested fermentation recipe. Place the glass weight over the vegetables to keep them submerged, then secure the silicone lid with the stainless steel band, logo side up.
- Before the first use: Pinch open the slit in the bubble on top of the lid. If you cannot see the slit, push the bubble inside out and pinch it open.
- How the valve works: Pressure from fermentation opens the slit to release gas, with no water-filled airlock to top up. The silicone valve is not completely one-way: negative pressure may pull the lid inward or allow a small amount of air into the jar. Pinch the valve if needed to equalize pressure.
- Keep vegetables under the brine: The weight is 68.5mm (2.7 inches) in diameter and 18.5mm (0.73 inches) thick. If your jar is only partly filled or your ferment needs more brine displacement, additional weights are available separately.
- Materials: LFGB-grade silicone lid, 304-grade stainless steel band, and tempered soda-lime glass weight with sanded edges.
- Care: All three components are dishwasher safe and reusable. Avoid sudden temperature changes when cleaning the glass weight.
