Product Description
- Leak-Proof, Food-Safe Solution: When we decided to invent this product, we were trying to solve two common problems with Mason jar lids: either they leak (like the plastic Ball lids), or they are not food safe (like many decorative lids). These simple silicone discs solve both problems by creating a tight seal and ensuring only food-grade silicone touches your jar’s contents.
- Works with most Mason jar lids: They fit inside most Mason jar lids to make them airtight and leakproof. They work especially well with Ball plastic storage caps, MJL plastic and stainless steel lids, and most of our decorative lids. Each insert has a grooved edge for a secure fit and a small tab for easy removal.
- Secure & Easy to Use: The grooved edges provide a snug fit inside the lid, and the small built-in tab allows for easy removal.
- Multi-Purpose Use: Can also be used as fermentation lids. Simply poke a small hole to allow pressure to release, similar to more expensive airlock systems.
- Eco-Friendly Material: Silicone is a safe, green, non-plastic (BPA free) material that does not leach any chemicals like plastic can. This is the most expensive and highest quality silicone available. LFGB silicone passes the pinch test - they do not turn white if pinched/twisted.
Sizes:
-
Regular Mouth: 70 mm diameter, 2.7 mm thick
-
Wide Mouth: 86.5 mm diameter, 3.3 mm thick
The inserts stay in place even when the jar is upside down. Because silicone is flexible, they may also work with other lids, even if the size isn’t exact. However, not all lids are compatible. We’ve noted compatible options on our website. If the insert feels slightly too large, you can trim it with scissors. This will not affect its performance.
Usage Tips:
-
With a lid and band, place the tab facing down into the jar
-
With a band only, place the tab facing up
-
Some lids seal better when flipped upside down. You can trim off the tab if needed
