If washing your hands often leaves them feeling dry or uncomfortable, you’re definitely not alone. Many traditional soaps can be a little harsh, especially when used multiple times a day. That’s why we love simple, gentle swaps that are easier on your skin, and customizable. One of our favorites is DIY foaming hand soap!

In this video, you’ll see just how simple the process really is. Our foaming soap pumps are easy to assemble and in less than a minute, an everyday jar is transformed into a reusable, stylish soap dispenser that fits right into a clean and natural home.

Our absolute simplest foaming soap recipe is as easy as: 1 part soap to 4 parts water. This is great for dishwashing or hand soap. Foaming soap uses less soap per pump than traditional liquid soap, which helps keep hands from drying out. It’s a great option if you’re trying to be more mindful about what you use on your skin, without making things complicated.

If you're looking for something a bit elevated from that, the following soap recipe is mild and moisturizing. Customize as fits best for you!

Simple Foaming Hand Soap Recipe

You’ll need:

  • 3 tablespoons of Castile soap

  • 2 teaspoons of fractionated coconut oil (Important: Fractionated coconut oil stays liquid even if it gets cold, unlike it's unfractionated counterpart!)

  • 10 drops of tea tree essential oil (or swap in lavender, eucalyptus, or a citrus oil if tea tree isn’t your favorite)

  • Distilled water or cool boiled water to fill the rest of the 16 oz Mason jar

Add the Castile soap, coconut oil, and essential oil to your Mason jar first. Then fill the jar the rest of the way with distilled or cooled boiled water. Once everything is in, gently swirl the jar to mix. Don't shake it.

The finished soap creates a light, creamy foam that cleans your hands without leaving them feeling stripped or dry. Little swaps like this may seem small, but they add up. Choosing clean, reusable, and thoughtful solutions can make everyday routines feel easier, more enjoyable, and a lot more intentional.
